The past decades have significantly stamped our medical treatment and therapy methods. A big part of all treatment methods goes back to the use of drugs for successful therapy. This is reasonable and necessary in many fields.
However, in our medical environment the careless use of drugs for nearly each symptom caused usage of substances with numerous adverse effects, that fully exceed the actual consequence of the disease.
Here is the starting point for the use of therapeutic laser medicine, which has prooved her effectivity for many indications in numerous publications and studies.
In advance, we would like to point out: The laser therapy is no magic bullet. Unfortunately there circulate several applications, where the effectivity has never been evidently proofed. LASOTRONIC GmbH would like to help you at this point, to find out the necessity of the use of a therapy laser system for you and to accompany the use in view of the target.
Here you find a listing ot frequently asked questions regarding laser therapy:
WHAT DOES LASER MEAN AND WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LASER LIGHT AND NORMAL LIGHT?
Laser means: Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. Laser is only a very small extract of the light spectrum, this means a wave length (monochromasia) which emits coherent and parallel. Laserlight is a spacious most organized emission of photons. Normal light is spontaneous and non-coherent and it combines many different wave lenghts (mixed light).
Laser therapy is mainly based on the mode of action of photobiostimulation. Here the use of laser light optimally proved its value due to its monochromatic and coherent features. It can enable to stimulate a deficit in the cellular energy balance via supply of light and the herewith combined increase of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) within the mitochondria.
Here you get a detailed summary of this and many other processes:
Today, more than 2000 clinical studies, double-blind and blind studies, case studies and dissertations document that laser therapy effects the following characteristic therapy results: Anti-inflammatory effect, pain management, stimulation and acceleration of regenerative processes.
Here you get more information about the physical definition of laserlight and its characteristics:
FOR WHICH INDICATIONS CAN LASER THERAPY BEEN USED?
Laser therapy is a soft and painless medical therapy method. By today, no side effects are reported. Laser therapy is successfully used in the following medical fields: dermatology, orthopedics, sports medicine, traumatology, general medicine, physiotherapy, dental medicine, gynaecology, urology, natural medicine, veterinary medicine etc.
Here you get a detailed indication list assorted from the worldwide literature (document in German language):
Yes, but not in the conventional meaning. Laser radiation is naturally harmful for our eyes. For this reason the use of laser safety googles is obligatory.
WHICH LASER CLASSES DO EXIST AND WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?
Laser class 1 = safe for the eye (depending on wave length) Laser class 1M = safe for the eye without optical usage / safety in question when used with optical equipment Laser class 2 = safe for the eye by means of reaction of averting plus eyelid closure reflex (max. 1mW) Laserklasse 2M = eyelid closure reflex (max. 1mW) Laserklasse 3R = exceeds MZB-value (400-700nm, max. 5 mW) Laserklasse 3B = old class 3B without 3R (max. 500mW) Laserklasse 4 = high power laser over 500mW power output
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIODE LASERS AND HELIUM NEON LASERS?
diode lasers = laser beam is generated from a semiconductor component (often GalliumAluminiumArsenid) helium neon = laser beam is generated from helium/neon gas (gas as laser source)
In general, every person with a medical profession or education can apply laser therapy. However, regulations and laws are different from country to country.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD A LASER BE CHECKED / CONTROLLED (SAFETY RELATED CONTROLS)?
The regulation for users of medical products (MedizinProdukteBetreiberVerordnung, MPBV) stipulates a control according to the indications of the manufacturer, but all 24 months at the latest.
WHAT ARE THE RELEVANT CRITERIA TO FIND THE RIGHT THERAPY LASER FOR THE INDIVIDUAL DEMAND?
type of treatement / surface or depth treatment / operational comfort / time of daily use / budget. We help you choosing the best therapy laser for your personal demand by considerating the cost-benefit-factor.
There is basically defined: A CW output performance of max. 500mW in defocused use works cell-regenerative. Performances higher than this belong to laser class 4 and they mostly work cell-degenerative. These lasers are mainly used in ablative and surgical fields. Unfortunately, the market offers more often lasers of class 4 as therapy lasers, which simply allocate their high power to a big area by not-using a collimator unit. Performances of class 4 may be dangerous, because they quickly heat the tissue and this may lead to burnings. Furthermore, these devices are disproportionally expensive and do not correspond to the requirements of therapeutic lasers for photobiostimulation, which in the range of 1-10 joules/cm² refers to publications in world literature.
With therapeutic lasers, the focus should be considerably more on the wave length than on the performance, because it is depending on the wave length what the laser is used for. While the wave lengths of 532nm (green) to 670nm (red) are mainly absorbed at the skin surface, the wave lengths from 780nm to tightly about 1000nm (infrared) penetrate optimally and without heating the tissue and are suitable for treament of the musculoskeletal system and the inner organs.
